Marquez fails to make Q2 cut as Lorenzo blitzes FP3

Marc Marquez will be forced to fight his way into second qualifying for the Italian Grand Prix after setting only the 11th quickest time in a practice session dominated by Jorge Lorenzo. Rising track temperatures led to a series of dramatic improvements in the closing stages of the session, Andrea Dovizioso's FP2 benchmark of 1m47.479s falling in the final five minutes. Lorenzo smashed the Ducati rider's Friday effort with a 1m47.061s, which he later lowered to a scintillating 1m46.617s - almost four tenths quicker than his nearest rival, Andrea Iannone.
